MAN CHARGED AFTER TAKING POLICE ON HIGHSPEED CHASE ACROSS STATE LINE IN A STOLEN SPIRE GAS TRUCK
27-year-old James Harris has been charged with charged with stealing a vehicle and tampering, after taking a Spire Gas truck and fleeing across state line.
A Spire representative said the truck was stolen from their lot after an employee got out and left it running in the 4100 block of Shrewsbury a little after noon on Monday.
The truck has GPS tracking, so Spire kept in contact with police on its whereabouts before and during the chase.
The suspect drove the vehicle across state line into St. Louis from Madison County, Illinois before parking the truck near Locust and Compton.
The suspect then exited the stolen work truck and walked down the street in an attempt to blend in with others. Police arrived and arrested him immediately.
