The Canyon del Oro High School Orchestra has been busy for the 2018-2019 school year. They’ve attended numerous festivals and received multiple awards for their performances. Some of their highlights include the Adoba Festival in Phoenix, the All State Festival, and the Heritage Festival in Anaheim.

For their trip to Anaheim, the group of young women and men travelled to Anaheim, CA to perform at the Rose Center Theater on March 16, 2018. Both bands and orchestras performed wonderfully and received awards. Some of these included first place in Symphonic Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and Adjudicators Awards. Concert Orchestra and Symphonic Band received silver awards. Band scored the highest within their category, and received the Outstanding Ensemble Award.

After all of their success, the group attended another Heritage Festival in Boston. The trip was from March 28 to April 1. CDO Orchestra received the first place, Gold Rating for their performance. Additionally, they received an Adjudicators Award and a Maestro Award was given to Kai Skaggs, a senior violinist. The Orchestra is invited to the Festival of Gold next year in Costa Mesa, CA, to perform at the Segerstrom Concert Hall on April 6, 2020. They have also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2017, where they received numerous awards for their performance.

Amphitheater schools and facilities are places where students thrive academically; places parents want their children to go; places where highly skilled people work; and places community members respect because of the high student achievement, caring environment, and focus on individual needs. Amphi students excel academically because students are taught by highly qualified staff, including the Air Force Association Arizona STEM Teacher of the Year, 39 nationally board certified teachers, Finalist for Outstanding High School Faculty Award, Arizona Earth Science Teacher of the Year, and more. Amphi students compete at the highest levels both athletically and academically, such as the Academic Decathlon 2018 State Champions (5th consecutive year), AZ Central Unified Athlete of the Year, 55 Southern Arizona Science and Engineering Fair winners, and state winners of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Amphi also offers tremendous programs for all students, meeting them where they currently are and helping them achieve their highest possible success.
